Thank you for all that you taught me! The breathing techniques and going through those practice contractions really helped me through the real thing. I was really glad that I took your class and will do it again for my next pregnancy. – JB
Honestly, Sappho, your classes are superb! I would say they were just as valuable in preparing for birth as the Health Region’s prenatal classes. It must be an amazing thing to know you contribute so positively in so many women’s birth experiences and in the entry of so many new people into the world. –JC

Prenatal Yoga & Private Yoga Class Testimonials
Sappho’s prenatal yoga classes were wonderful, and I kept them up throughout my pregnancy. Not only did they help me move through the various stages of pregnancy in a healthy way, but the supportive atmosphere was fun and relaxing. -Anette C.
I’ve taken a few prenatal yoga classes with Sappho throughout my two pregnancies. It was always a divine experience – I looked forward to the calmness and harmony of the class and relief of the pregnancy aches and pains. That same longing brought me back recently when I was looking for a yoga practice to help me in the recovery of a dislocated patella. I have been attending private sessions with Sappho to regain the strength and flexibility. I am finding the private sessions invaluable, not only for the physical benefit, but also for letting go and trusting the body again after a traumatic injury. Sappho is a great teacher, very knowledgeable and systematic and with great focus on detail. She is very caring and attuned to her students. Sappho’s detailed instructions make it easy to practice at home and yoga feels great for my whole body. –DP
I found between contractions I was scanning my body for tension, and helping myself relax. Hooray for dissociation techniques! Thanks to Sappho for all the great techniques. Both midwives commented on how relaxed I seemed during the whole process, and I have to credit that to breathing and focusing, which I definitely learned at yoga. –CT
Even with such an incredibly short labour and with the use of suction- I had no tearing thanks to Sappho’s yoga class and the Kegels! –GT
I don’t think I could have delivered without pain relief if I didn’t know the breathing techniques. I used the slow breathing quite a bit and when I started feeling as though I couldn’t take it or it was too much, I just concentrated on my slow tonal breathing. –AH
I miss our classes together as I found them very relaxing and it was so rewarding being able to share with a group of women who were experiencing the same things I was. –BB
I met Sappho during my second pregnancy and booked a one-on-one yoga session with her. I had been previously going to prenatal yoga classes at another yoga studio but I found that some of the things taught went against what my pregnancy books recommended. I was having a lot of hip and pubic bone pain that I really wanted relief from and Sappho is so compassionate with a deep knowledge of anatomy. We worked through poses that helped relieve sciatica, practiced squats to open the pelvis for delivery, and worked with a modified pigeon pose that helped my hip pain. What was very helpful was how to modify forward fold to get all the great stretch without squishing baby or making me feel sick. Her guidance helped me to have a more pleasant pregnancy and a nice quick delivery.Sappho is also an RN who shares her knowledge about the pelvic floor. She takes the time to explain the structure of the pelvic floor and how to develop an awareness of this deep part of our anatomy. Finally, I was confident in my practice of Kegel exercises. -Tanya W.

While expecting my second child, my husband decided I should see a massage therapist. Being involved in competitive sports, I’ve seen many therapists but my experience with Sappho was different.
